Universal Robots
Module handling between the nest, oven and lift.
Previous professional experience
On-site coordination, electrical and mechanical integration, adjustments and testing in a cell combining a cobot, oven and test station in Guadalajara.
Participation by an INDEXSOL member while working for a previous employer.
The cell needed to coordinate a collaborative robot, an oven, a lift and an electrical test station. Modules were tested cold and then hot, with their results reviewed for consistency. The hot test had to take place while the module was still hot.
Integration took place at a manufacturing plant in Guadalajara. Working away from the team’s home city, with constraints on making changes inside the plant, required on-site coordination and problem-solving during adjustments.
The operating sequence
An explanatory diagram of the handling and hot-testing sequence.
The operator placed the brake module in its locating fixture.
The cobot picked up the module and placed it in the oven.
The cobot removed the hot module and placed it on the lift.
The lift positioned the module for hot electrical testing.
After testing, the lift lowered and the module moved to the conveyor to cool.
The operator collected the modules at another point on the line.

Machine control within the integrated sequence.
Electrical testing with a Visual Basic application.
Project participation
The INDEXSOL member’s contribution focused on supporting integration and representing the project technically at the plant.
Integration outcome
Integration, adjustments and testing brought the sequence into operation. The process included cold and hot electrical checks of the modules and review of the consistency of their results.
Coordinating disciplines, addressing issues on site and supporting testing are part of the experience this member now brings to INDEXSOL.
